Hiding in shame

Prime Minister Robert Abela decided not to attend the Chamber of Commerce’s 175 years anniversary dinner held yesterday. He sent Silvio Schembri, Minister for the Economy to fill in for him. Present was European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, and the President of the Republic, George Vella along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Leader of the Opposition.

Probably, this is the first decision that Robert Abela got right throughout his political career. Just a day after you defend the biggest fraudulent deal in the history of Maltese politics, you would probably feel some shame and guilt in feasting with Malta’s business community. It’s bizarre that our Prime Minister is so disgraceful and lacking in any leadership that he can’t even show himself in public.

Of course, Roberta Metsola stole the show.
