I am sooooo late in commenting on this – almost as late as I am in blogging the SF Opera Trittico – but there is no way Racette cracked that note on purpose. I saw Trittico three times. She floated the high note in “Senza mamma” once; the other twi times, it didn’t crack, but sounded oddly wispy and not-quite-there.
